Violent Video Games Can Actually Harm Your Brain
Did you know that violent video games can actually harm your brain?
Have you heard of the South Korean student who massacred thirty-two teachers and students in Virginia Tech University in the United States on April 16, 2007? What about the 1999 Columbine High School massacre where two students started killing twelve students and a teacher and harming twenty-four (24) others? Seems like, those students were certified addicts because of the game “doom”.
Violent Video Games are causing alarm to all parents in all parts of the world. Devin Moore, eighteen, murdered two police officers and a police dispatcher in Alabama. He is believed to be an obsessed player of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. When he was arrested, he said this to the investigators: “Life is a video game. Everybody has to die sometime”.
You will probably think that these killers had gone crazy. Yes, something happened to their brains with the help of FPS or First Person Shooter games. FPS is characterized by an on-screen view that simulates the in-game character’s point of view and by the use of handheld weapons. Example of FPS games includes Quake, Grand Theft Auto, Doom. Others are Blood, GoldenEye 007, Duke Nukem 3D, Halo, Counter Strike, Wolfenstein, Call of Duty, Destiny and Left for Dead.
